moult positions a rabbit fur jacket compressed under the legs of a Sebel portable study table. Held down and flattened, the gesture references preservation through compression, attempting to hold onto the material through a process of restraint and containment. This confinement operates as both a material and psychological condition, reflecting the ways positions are maintained and fixed rather than allowed to move fluidly toward resolution. The work functions as a failed preservation system, where preservation becomes a form of loss rather than continuity. Through forced entrapment, the jacket is subjected to ongoing shedding and deterioration, revealing the failure of sustaining the material in this state. The rabbit fur carries layered and unstable moral associations, evoking luxury, status, comfort, consumer guilt, ethical discomfort and ongoing contradiction. The work refuses fixed ethical clarity, acknowledging that such positions shift through framing, proximity and broader social and cultural agreement. Employing a reduced material vocabulary, the work draws on Arte Povera motifs through its attention to unstable value systems, nature and order. Materials are not disguised or transformed, but presented directly, allowing their physical and cultural tensions to remain exposed.
